I wish I had researched this band before we had played with them. Really nice group of people. If you’re like “Black Kids” or indie pop in general, you’ll dig “Gospel Music.” They played a great set and big thanks to them for coming out from Florida.
I was really disappointed that more people didn’t stay. I realize it’s tough to stay out on a Tuesday night though. Maybe next time….
Anyway, Now that’s over we have one more to go before the end of the year! We’re calling it an Irish Christmas and I’ll have more on it soon.!

Speaking of musicians. If you are a band or musician and would like to have your music featured in a new video series for Dirty Richmond, send your files to dirtyrva@gmail.com!
And if you like them, check them out tomorrow night at Strange Matter! (I hear it’s half price burger night too) I haven’t head them before so let’s wish for the best!
edit:
Upon further inspection, these guys sound a lot like “Pavement.” In fact, that might be one of their listed influences. I know there is a following for this so I hope people turn out!
Ghost of Pop 7!
It was incredible last night. The Trillions played a great set (as always) and so did Goldrush.
If you’re not familiar with “Ghost of Pop”, it’s a yearly charity show at Gallery 5. This year’s edition featured some bands that I really was looking forward to. I had never seen Goldrush before; Prabir Mehta’s band ( a very influential person in the Richmond music scene.) Goldrush is a very interesting mix of rock, folk and pop.
For those of you that are familiar with Prabir and his previous endevours, Prabir and the Substitutes played a reunion song. The first time those guys have all played on stage together in a long time I’m sure.
I hate to say I missed Young Adult Fiction, Horsehead and I had to head out before The Druthers. But, I still had a great time and I saw a lot of familiar faces, which is always encouraging.
I recently said that that we were playing with a side project of “Black Girls.” Actually, we are playing with a side project of “Black Kids.” Excuse me for getting my racial band names confused.
Thanks!

Here is the picture on our poster for the show next week! I’ve learned a little more about our counterparts for the evening. The band “Gospel Music” will be playing with us and it’s a side project for the bassist of the band “Black Girls.” I have no idea what they sound like but it’s guaranteed to be catchy. In the meantime, click the picture for the the Facebook event page for the show. I’m really looking forward to hearing what this band sounds like and playing a show so close to campus.
New Show at Strange Matter December 13th!
And apparently we are playing with a side project of “Black Girls.” I’m still getting the details but I’m excited about it. I’ll show you the poster once it’s created, if there is one. I have no idea what this side project is supposed to sound like but I feel comfortable saying that a lot of people know “Black Girls.”
I know the show is during exam week, but if you’re done or have the extra time it’s going to be worth it!

I can’t believe it’s already been a week! This past Monday’s show at the Camel was the best by far! There was some drama at the end but it’s all a learning experience. Everyone at the show was amazing and many thanks to all of our friends that helped us out.
And from the show I was very fortunate to meet the guys from Parlour Shakedown. I love the way they sound and the lead singer is a character on stage. He has some moves and acts that you really need to see to believe. I won’t give away too much because it deserves to be a surprise.
Our next show is in the middle of December. I’ll put up more information once all the details are worked out. Thanks again!
